Sources

Sources are, simply put, the source of the magic; where the magic of Deafu comes from. Over Deafu history, the magic has changed sources twice. The magic originated with the Eternal Beings, legendary beings created by The Universe from worthy souls. Just like a soul, they cannot contain magic without a host, or they will begin to corrode. Thus, The Universe gave five Eternal Beings the task of being a Source on the planet of Deafu.

Quite a while into civilization, a man named The Higherup took away the magic from the Eternal Beings as he had found out that if the planet is a host to the Eternal Beings, just like he is the host to a soul, then the planet was surely being corroded by the magic from the Eternal Beings. In an effort to save Deafu from the entropic nature of magic, he sealed the magic away in powerful creatures using a mass of souls - he had created them using soulfusing. These creatures would later be labeled as his children, and they would act as a sort of false idol over the world, being the new source of magic.

So, there are two types of Sources. Late Sources [The Eternal Beings] and Modern Sources [The Higherup's children, who have the title of 'magickeeper'.] and they are the source that their respective magic comes from. However, due to the magic being taken from the Eternal Beings, one may no longer connect with them, not unless they have the will and determination to do so.

A source may influence a Receiver's magic experience. If one is deeply connected to their Source, their magic will become easier to weild. However, this could come with downsides. If one is deeply connected to a Source, they may also feel what the Source feels, leading to adverse effects and experiences. Or the source could attempt to control the Receiver if they are deeply connected.




Receivers

Receivers are, simply put, the users of the magic, or the receivers of the magic. Usually one is born with magic, however if this is not the case, or if the receiver wishes to change their magic type, they may preform a ritual to attempt to connect to a Source. In a ritual, one will etch in the ground the sigils associated with the Source they wish to connect to and the magic they wish to obtain from the Source. Each ritual for each magic has specific ingredients you must acquire, most of these ingredients can be found in common biomes, but if you wish to enhance your ritual, you may use materials from Being biomes. [Being biomes are the physical embodiment of the Eternal Beings.]



Eternal Beings [Source]

Eternal Beings are souls that were chosen by The Universe to become its direct underlings. Eternal Beings are extremely powerful forms of souls and unlike normal souls, will hold onto their connections, memories & experiences until death. Eternal Beings should live as long as The Universe does, unless something catastrophic happens to them, such as magic corrosion, which would not happen under a normal circumstance as planets are created by The Universe so they can host the Eternal Beings, thus allowing the planet to corrode instead of the Eternal Being.

There is an Eternal Being for each type of magic on Deafu, but there are many other Eternal Beings in the universe, assigned to different planets with different magic. Eternal Beings are capable of laying curses upon the populus if they so wish it. Eternal Beings are also responsible for creating the features of the planet such as biomes, or creatures.



Souls [Receiver]

Souls are what allow common beings on Deafu to use magic. A certain amount of souls are assigned to a planet by The Universe. It is not required for a planet to have souls for its inhabitants. Deafu has plenty of souls in its depths; the souls are located deep inside of the planet, in cave-pockets that [eventually] reach the surface. Souls are very small, and are indeed physical. They take up a spot deep inside the body and are released upon death.

Souls can interact with the brain, and Souls are very impressionable, which causes the effect of one's memories, experiences and connections to become 'imprinted' onto the soul. These imprints will die over a long period of time as Souls are 'cleansed' by the planet, however, most imprinting survives the cleansing, especially if it is heavily imprinted, such as a trauma or a goal to dedicate one's life to. These imprints may be passed on to the next bearer of the soul. Using Magic also leaves imprints.

The underground slurry that Souls [who do not currently have hosts] lay in is very dangerous. It is said not to follow Souls down into caves as when they are released because if you were to fall into the slurry, you would be completely cleansed by the planet, and likely never see the light of day again.



Ritual Forewarning

Rituals should be performed carefully, and not by yourself as absorbing too much magic in a ritual at first or growing too strong of a connection at first can completely kill you, or worse.



Magic Auras

Each Magical Being will have an invisible aura around them that can have different effects depending on the magic type. The aura may have a vastly different size to another magic's aura, or some magic types may only be able to use their magic within the aura. Auras can be manipulated by some types of magic, and some magics have auras so small that they may as well not have one at all.



Elementals

Just as The Universe has underlings, the Eternal Beings have underlings as well. They are called Elementals, and are made of many souls. Their behavior and how many of them exist entirely depends on which Eternal Being they are an underling to. Most Elementals have a glowy, light, almost see-through form with odd wings. Some may even have eyes. Elementals can be extremly dangerous, and carry out the will of their Eternal Being.
